Connecting design with the beauty and wisdom of nature: that’s what The Dutch Wave stands for and strives for. This results in a beautiful environment where people feel comfortable. For this reason, we design with nature as a source of inspiration, so that we can create a habitat that is in harmony with the user and the surroundings. Designing from this philosophy is what we call Biophilic Design. It reveals our inherent need as humans to be connected to nature by applying it to a newly created environment.
The origin of The Dutch Wave?
The Dutch Wave is a multidisciplinary collaboration between garden designers, landscape architects, Visual Artists, architects, and Mother Nature’s Wisdom. All with a connection to the Biophilic Design philosophy. It’s a beautiful mix of different people to look at creative possibilities with a broad perspective in restoring the connection with nature.
Since 2000, under the flag of Buijtels Buitengewone Tuinen, we have realized beautiful projects, mainly for the private sector. In recent years, there has been an increasing demand for our Biophilic Design approach in professional projects. These include developments of shopping centers, supermarkets, campuses, residential concepts, and transformations of urban areas. Therefore, in 2020, we established The Dutch Wave, with the ambition to translate the sexiness of Mother Nature into harmonious environments that fit perfectly into their surroundings.
